ICT 2018 Exhibition

BEACONING’s proposal “Breaking Educational Barriers with Contextualised, Pervasive and Gameful Learning” has been selected for the ICT 2018 Exhibition in Vienna on 4-6 December 2018.

The Beaconing project aims to break the barriers of space and time in terms of educational experiences. It brings education beyond the classroom, and into outdoor and personal spaces. The main strategy is to empower teachers/educators to create new learning resources, which are pervasive and gamified in order to deliver content in a more engaging way. The Beaconing solutions include the following:

  • an authoring tool for gamified and pervasive lesson plans;
  • teacher and student hubs with dashboards for visualising the analytics;
  • playable apps for the authored lesson plans (PC, Android and IoS);
  • a suite of minigames for supporting atomic learning;
  • a visual editor for developing new narratives for the games.

Beaconing is a frontrunner in multifaceted education technologies through large-scale piloting of a digital learning platform. The platform blends physical and digital spaces, focusing on STEM education, and merges learning acquired through formal and informal means. It thus develops the skills for today’s workforce.

The event includes a major exhibition of EU-funded research and innovation projects from current and previous Framework Programmes showcasing the best accomplishments and pioneering results. The ICT-2018 Exhibition is organised by the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT). The exhibition will also present initiatives which support the Digital Single Market.

At ICT 2018, ten exhibition areas will showcase the best accomplishments and pioneering results of research & innovation funded by the European Union.

The general exhibition is guided this year by three themes: “Inspiring a Digital Society”, “Creating Networks & Technology” and “Transforming Industry & Economy”.

The project will be represented by a team from Coventry University to present, promote, receive feedback and investigate possible collaborations for our project!
