During the Istanbul exclusive BEACONING event, there were three sessions during which game-based learning and the BEACONING solution was presented. Now, these key presentations are available online for the 300,000 teachers in Turkey, who are active users of the Vitamin CPD portal.

This was fertile ground for BEACONING. Geolocation games with beacons are prepared for students during which they would discover facilities in various workshops. After the initial trials and teachers fine-tuning of the game challenges, the games are scheduled later in May, during festival week.

At the interactive session during the interview, BEACONING web site and accessibility features were examined. As a result, Mektebim booked a pilot with BEACONING geolocation games. The pilots in Mektebim Istanbul schools are scheduled in May. Middle School students at grades 6 and 7 will be the participants and the subject is chosen to be the properties of water.

Management at Sınav Koleji has a set of extra-curricular courses for their students: Industry 4.0 in middle-school and Entrepreneurship in high-school. Teachers at Sınav Koleji prepared a GLP for the students in these courses, where they will experience digital educational games in the context of their subjects. Some high school students already started to develop ideas for their first venture in the domain of educational games.

The department is especially keen on using learning analytics strategies and this component of the project captured their interest. During the meeting, the statistics unit of the department examined BEACONING dashboards and evaluated various usage scenarios.
