The escolaglobal® school group, from Santa Maria da Feira county (Portugal), encompassing 600 alunos, is developing since 2015 an educational technology effort in every room, in the hands of every student, from preschool to secundary (“sixth form”) levels – TeK.escolaglobal, in cooperation with researchers from Universidade Aberta and Universidade de Coimbra. Going beyond the use of virtual textbooks, the project aims at the developing and deploying an educational model centred on project-based learning, where technology is employed in service of creativity, individual freedom of expression, and group work (more info about the firt year can be found in the Portuguese-language paper presented at the conference “3.º Encontro de Jogos e Mobile Learning”, in Coimbra, Portugal).

INESC TEC, the Portuguese member of the BEACONING consortium, presented the project to the management of escolaglobal, as well as its course and goals. Enthusiastically, escolaglobal expressed its desire to follow the progress of BEACONING and experiment our pervasive technology for games and learning design in its technology-rich educational context.
