The power of mixed reality

Two major trends leading from 2017 onto 2018 to innovative STEM programs and personalized learning is data analytics and creating access to AR/VR. What does this equate to…? New DIN Specification on SG Meta Data Format

During the last 6 months a multi-disciplinary team with German speaking reasearchers, game developers and other interested stakeholders have been working on a new specification on SG Meta data Format. The objective is to improve the standardisation in how SG are described and thereby support the reuse of existing games. Today the final version was agreed upon in Berlin. The process was initated by Stefan Göbel from TU Darmstadt and managed by So-Jin Kim from DIN (Deutsche Industrie Norm) . DIN is the German standardisation body. The specification will have the number DIN SPEC 91380 Serious Games Meta Data Format. It will be published in July. BIBA (Represented by Jannicke Baalsrud Hauge) as Beaconing partner has been involved in the development of the specification. This is only a first step and the collaboration among the involved researchers and industry will continue. A pre-version of the SPEC will be presented on June, 8 at the GameDays in Darmstadt.

4th live web marathon #AprendeINTEF

UCM researchers Baltasar Fernández Manjón and Antonio Calvo Morata participated in the 4th #AprendeINTEF live web marathon, organized by INTEF, the National Institute of Educational Technologies and Teacher Training, the unit of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport responsible for the integration of ICT in non-university educational stages. The 4th web marathon #AprendeINTEF comprised four sessions were different teachers and researchers were selected to present their educational experiences with a focus from and within the development of the competence areas of the Common Reference Framework for Digital Teaching Competence. As part of the Session IV, live on April 22nd from 16:30 to 19:30, Baltasar Fernández Manjón and Antonio Calvo Morata presented their experience with the videogame Conectado.
