STEM Approaches in Romanian Schools

Today, the Romanian educational system needs some new challenges and STEM approaches could revive the interest for studying science, technology, math and engineering subjects. We need to make science, technology, math and engineering education more challenging, more playful and above all more imaginative and inspiring for today’s students, the citizens of tomorrow’s world. STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Rather than teach the four disciplines as separate and discrete subjects, STEM integrates them into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications.

„THINKING AT THE EDGE”- INNOVATIVE EDUCATIONAL METHOD FOR QUALITY TRAINING OF SENSORY IMPAIRED STUDENTS

Improving the quality of education is closely related to various specific key aspects of school’s profile but, improving teaching-learning-assessment aspect in Science, Chemistry, Physics, Biology at a sensory impaired student is based on a specific set of educational goals. Quality of education lies in addressing modern methods. An innovative educational method is Thinking At the Edge (TAE). This is based on both theories philosopher Eugene Gendlin “Experimenting and creating of meaning” and “Implicit philosophy” and the theory and practice of concentration. This practice ensures the quality of concentration on the body in situations which we live in and we generally experience them, guided by holistic size of sense. The method has wide applications, starting from study/individually work or, in groups, at all levels and contexts of education (primary, secondary, university or postuniversity). Stimulating innovation in Science, a field so vast and promising, is based on acquiring thinking “out-of-the-box” of sensory impaired students.

Learning Analytics integration and exploitation

imaginary is currently testing Beaconing’s Learning Analytics platform, which is built on top of the previous RAGE Learning Analytics asset, in order to find the best way to integrate it with Beaconing’s mini games ecosystem, which is also currently in development. The goal is to find the best way to send xAPI statements with the intention of, in the future, extracting meaningful reports for all the involved stakeholders. A full in-house installation of Beaconing’s Learning Analytics platform has been completed successfully and the Unity3D tracker component is being used to send xAPI statements generated during the testing of some of the original Unity3D mini game prototypes that were previously developed in Beaconing.
